What a Minneapolis WordPress site should actually do

arrow_1.png

A lot of Minneapolis businesses already have a WordPress site. That is not the same thing as having a site that makes the phone ring.

We build WordPress because it is the right tool for most local companies: editable, fast enough when it is hosted well, and easy to wire into SEO, ads, and forms. The problem is how most of those sites get built. Pretty homepage. Thin service pages. No local pages. A contact form that emails nobody useful. Then the owner wonders why “web design Minneapolis” never turns into jobs.

Digital Architects is a Minneapolis agency at 711 Hennepin Ave, Suite 507. We treat the website as infrastructure. If you want the brochure version, we are the wrong shop.

What the site has to do

Three jobs, in order:

  1. Show up when someone nearby searches for the work you actually sell.
  2. Answer the question fast enough that they do not bounce to the next result.
  3. Make it stupidly easy to call, book, or request a quote.

That is custom website design and development with SEO baked in. Not a theme demo with your logo swapped in.

WordPress, done like a grown-up

A WordPress site that converts in this market usually has:

  • One page per service people actually search, written in plain English
  • Location and service-area pages that match how Twin Cities customers search (Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the suburbs you really serve)
  • Technical basics: HTTPS, mobile layout, Core Web Vitals that are not embarrassing, a real XML sitemap, and schema that matches the business
  • Forms and click-to-call that go to a human, with the public number (612) 459-7499 if that is how you want leads handled
  • Google Search Console and GA4 set up so you can see queries, not just vanity sessions
  • Hosting that does not fall over. Our own site runs on SiteGround for a reason: speed and uptime, not a $4 shared box.

If your current site is WordPress and it still feels slow or generic, the CMS is not the problem. The information architecture is.

What we will not do

We will not restyle your homepage for fun. We will not dump lorem ipsum on a service block and call it done. We will not hide the work behind a 12-month contract.

If a page is live and working, we leave it alone unless there is a ranking or conversion reason to touch it. New work goes on new URLs: posts, service pages, location pages. That is how you grow the site without breaking the thing people already trust.

How this ties to search

Google is not ranking “nice websites.” It is ranking pages that match intent. “WordPress developer Minneapolis” and “Minneapolis web design” are different jobs. So are “HVAC website” and “memory care marketing.” If you only have a homepage, you have one shot. If you have a library of specific pages, you have a lot of shots.

That is also why we write news and insights the way we do. A post should answer a real question. If it does not, it is noise.

If you already have WordPress

Bring the login, or have us work in SiteGround as we do for client sites. We will not rewrite the homepage unless you ask. We will add the pages that can rank, fix the technical junk that is blocking them, and keep your styling.

Call (612) 459-7499 or start from contact. Ask for Austin McDowell. Tell us the site URL and the three services that should be making you money. We will tell you which pages are missing.
